Ministry of Health

Directorate for Reproductive Health was established in1997 in response to the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) held in Cairo, Egypt in 1994.

The core mandate of the Directorate is to coordinate the integration of Sexual and Reproductive Health Services (SRH) at all levels; develop SRH Policies, Strategy and Guidelines; guide implementation of SRH services as well as monitor and evaluate SRH services.

The directorate exists to promote through informed choice, safer reproductive health practices by men, women and young people, including increased use of high quality, accessible sexual and reproductive health rights and services

The goal of the RH Programme is to improve sexual & reproductive health for all men, women and young people in Malawi, especially the vulnerable and underserved.
